Technical Information

Web Browser

AdaCare is a web application and does not require any computer equipment other than a PC or Macintosh, a web browser, and an Internet connection. Your web browser must have JavaScript enabled (usually the default setting). Click here to learn how to enable JavaScript on your computer.

When AdaCare displays pages from other web sites (like driving maps), it opens the page in a new window. If your browser has a pop-up blocker, be sure to give permission for pop-up windows from AdaCare.

As a rule of thumb, any PC or Macintosh less than four years old should be fast enough to use AdaCare comfortably. Faster computers, as always, are better. Wide monitors (17-inch or larger) are a good idea for viewing scheduling calendars, but any size monitor will do.

AdaCare supports most modern web browsers. We've tested the most popular ones, listed in the table below. If you use a different browser, try it — it will probably work just fine. Or, download one of the browsers below for guaranteed compatibility.

Compatible Web Browsers

Internet Explorer*

  * Version 7 of Internet Explorer is not recommended. Version 9 is much faster, as are Chrome, FireFox, and Safari. In fact, our testing shows that Firefox is ten times faster than Internet Explorer on some pages. Why go slow?

AdaCare does not require Java software. Although the names are similar, Java is not the same as JavaScript mentioned above.

Internet Explorer Warnings

There is an issue in Internet Explorer that some larger home care agencies may notice. If you see a pop-up message on the Calendar page that looks similar to this:

A script on this page is causing Internet Explorer to run slowly. If it continues to run, your computer may become unresponsive. Do you want to abort the script?

This is simply a cautionary message, and does not indicate an actual problem with AdaCare or your PC. You can correct the warning by going to this Microsoft web page,

Scroll down to the section titled, “Fix it for me.” Then, click on the “Fix it” button and follow the instructions. Also, you can avoid this issue entirely by installing a different browser as described earlier. If you need any assistance, please contact us and we’ll be glad to help.
